Our latest Spotlight On series focusses on females in finance and what a typical day looks like for BloomSmith's Kate Ashton.

Kate Ashton is Sales Director for BloomSmith's unique, unsecured VAT funding offering, which allows the VAT and SDLT due on Commercial Property and Land purchases to be met without tying up Investors and Developer's capital.

What does a typical day look like?

Greater Manchester based, Kate can generally be found networking with those involved in front end property deal preparation. Often travelling to towns and cities around the UK, Kate believes in working with real people face to face if possible as it is her view that this builds trust in both her and the business. She leads weekly meetings to guide the Administration, Sales and Marketing functions as a Director and Shareholder within BloomSmith’s specialist team.

Kate is required to always be contactable by clients throughout the funding process. As well as being naturally diligent, the fact that many transactions are done over a intense 72 hour period Kate’s availability is fundamental.

Every working day, Kate can be found on the phone, emails or in face to face meetings with those wonderfully varied parties involved throughout BloomSmith’s transactions. Kate brings parties together ensuring, continuity and communication is maintained. As we are aware, this is an art as much as a science and something at which females in finance like Kate, need to excel at.

Kate works closely with essential third-party organisations such as EGi and, NACFB to optimise these extensive resources in the context of intelligence, credit decisions and marketing activity.

Kate’s main goals and objectives are to raise awareness of BloomSmith’s VAT funding solutions and technical requirements with a view to growing the BloomSmith lending book in the coming years.

What Kate does at BloomSmith

Kate’s role, as well as being a formal Director of the business with all of the associated fiduciary responsibilities, is to manage all stakeholders, including clients, property agents, finance brokers, accountants, lawyers, senior lenders and insolvency practitioners, to ensure that their enquiries and financial interests are looked after to the highest standard. Along with her team, diligence and professionalism is paramount.

With no legal charge taken on property the demand from experienced operators, in a difficult and unpredictable trading environment, has never been greater.

"BloomSmith enables me the opportunity to utilise my existing contacts and experience to complement a highly respected team that's right at the forefront of the Liquidity industry. I can't help but feel we are perfectly placed to support our valued clients in meeting their challenges and completing their projects in these variable times."
