Grade II listed barn conversion and renovation in Beaconsfield

Published by Architect Your Home -

title

Conversion and renovation of a 17th-century barn to bring it up to date and reflect the current family dynamic.

In this conversion, it was very important to the customer that all the original features were retained as this was the charm that attracted them to the barn in the first instance. The architect wholly embraced the idea, of not only restoring the barn but also, in some key areas, of exposing the timber frame structure to create a truly stunning effect. These ‘open’ walls visually divided the spaces but also allowed for a ‘broken plan’ feel.

All new materials that were added, such as the solid timber stair treads and wrought iron railings, were simple and honest, yet elegant and appropriate to the building and in all helped to create a sensational family home.

“We had very clear ideas about what we wanted and AYH was keen to work with our vision. They helped to develop our initial ideas into a truly outstanding home. Completing a renovation project on this scale is never without its problems but the architects kept a level head and acted as huge support when dealing with the builders were proving challenging! The end result has surpassed all our expectations. I would highly recommend Architect Your Home.”
