Residential Extension & Interior Refurbishment - Sheen House

Posted by L+ Architects on 8th December 2020 -

title

The brief for this project was to create a ground floor open plan integrated with the front room and the access hall and the creation of a utility area.

The optimisation of the natural light was one of the main factors in order to create a space that effectively responds to every different use within it.

Our solution

We infilled the small courtyard with a glass and integrated if fully to the rest of the floorplan.

This allowed us to increase the natural light into the space and helped to articulate all the functions.

The triangular shape of the plot was a challenge that gave us an opportunity to push all the back of house areas to the front of the house, optimising the living areas to the rear.

A fully openable glass wall integrates effectively the interior and the exterior seamlessly.
