The site of a former flour mill in Ickleford, which has consent for more than 70 new homes, has gone on the market with Savills.

The 3.71-hectare Bowman’s Mill site has outline planning permission for up to 71 new homes – 40 per cent of them affordable.

Under the terms of the planning permission – approved by North Herts Council in March – the properties would be made up of two and three-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom houses.

The site, which closed as a mill in 2016, comprises several redundant buildings including siloes, sheds and office space – all of which would be demolished.

Abigail Jones, director in the development team at Savills in Cambridge, said the team is now inviting offers from developers.

She said: “We’re delighted to be playing a role in bringing this important site back into use and we’re looking forward to seeing how the plans for the project take shape.

“It’s an excellent opportunity to deliver high quality homes on previously developed land outside of the greenbelt within the village boundary.

“Ickleford is an attractive village that is well connected to the surrounding area – just a short distance from the likes of Hitchin and Cambridge, with good access to plenty of amenities including a village store, several pubs, primary school and sports facilities – so we’re already seeing strong interest.”

Savills is inviting offers for the site until 12 noon on Thursday, May 2. Contact Abigail Jones on 01223 347094 or email [email protected]
