House sales held back by Brexit- Plus all the latest property news

Global Design Solutions- The Savoy Theatre
Built by Richard D’Oyly Carte in 1881, The Savoy Theatre on Londons’ Strand firmly marked its’ place in the history books as the first public building in the world to be entirely illuminated by electric light.In an attempt to address its environmental impact, the theatre wished to replace its existing tungsten house lights with an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly system, which could be retrofitted without impacting the fabric of the historic building.

BCP Council (Formerly Borough of Poole):  Darryl Howells, a director of Pure Town Planning has pioneered another ‘first’ planning permission, this time for a block of six 2-bedroom flats in a street of detached houses in Broadstone, Poole.Our client had attempted several times to intensify the number of residential units on this site.  The last approval (also secured by Darryl) was for a pair of semi-detached houses.

Design: The Local Approach
Kit Malthouse earlier this month said that the current generation of houses being built will be “ripped down and bulldozed” as unsuitable, just like the architecture from the 60s and 70s is currently being now.Additionally, he went on to say that 70% of people in the UK would not buy a new house, preferring to buy second-hand homes that are every old, unlike the bad new builds which are “soulless, lifeless and ubiquitous”.

Ending Help to Buy ‘will slow down housing market’- Plus all the latest property news

The scheme has accounted for more than 80% of home sales in the past 18 months in 22 local authorities, according to Cushman & Wakefield,

With the seemingly insatiable demand for online shopping, the demand for warehouse space has risen and developers have followed suit investing in industrial units and warehouses to facilitate storage and distribution requirements. The latest RICS market report for Q12019 sees a continuing decline in retail space, office space remaining stable and an increase in the demand for industrial units and warehouse space.

Consultation launched on Tenancy Reform in England
As Prime Minister Theresa May leaves office the UK Government has launched a 12-week consultation on Tenancy Reform in England, setting out greater detail about what the Government envisage change will look like.In April, the Government outlined that they want to prevent private landlords from evicting tenants at short notice and without good reason, amend the Section 8 eviction procedure and expedite the court process so landlords are able to swiftly and smoothly regain their property where tenants fall into rent arrears or cause damage.

All the latest Property news -40-year mortgages jump in popularity

A daily roundup of all the key property news.The number of mortgages with a term of more than 40 years rocketed in 2018, rising over 20-fold to 3,483 from just 162 in 2017, according to analysis of Financial Conduct Authority figures by Ludlow Thompson. It said high levels of competition in the mortgage business had pushed firms to react “to the demand for lower monthly outlays by providing increasingly long-term mortgage products”.

New Forest District Council: Dan Wilden has recently won an advertisement consent appeal against a refusal of advertisement consent by New Forest District Council.Pure Town Planning recently secured a subsequent consent for a new illuminated sign on the gable end wall of a commercial property in New Milton town centre (report here).
