Some things in life come around quickly, the changing of the clocks, birthdays, Christmas music in supermarkets – and the British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards deadline. Just three weeks remain for wannabe winners to submit their applications, with the call for entry closing at 5pm on Friday 29th November 2019.

The BCO National Awards sets the standard for excellence across the office sector in the UK, attracting over 1,300 property professionals on the evening, as they hope to take home the National Award for their category.

The awards recognise excellence and ingenuity and judges look for projects that have gone above and beyond without compromising on time or budget. Entrants will be judged by a regional panel of judges in the Spring, with each local winner going on to compete for the National title in October.

Projects can be entered into the following categories:

•‘Commercial Workplace’

•‘Corporate Workplace’

•‘Refurbished/ Recycled Workplace’

•‘Fit Out of Workplace’

•‘Projects up to 1,500’

The BCO regional judging panels will also have the power to award an Innovation prize, to projects that have gone above and beyond to provide truly unique solutions for their clients’ sustainability, wellbeing or technology challenges. Winners for this category are nominated by the judging panel from any of the above categories.

Rob van Zyl, building services partner at Cundall and chair of the Midlands & Central England judging panel, said:

“The BCO National Awards are hugely important in allowing us to take a step back and celebrate the truly remarkable work being done in our sector. I have been fortunate enough to have been involved with the judging committee for many years and it has been a real pleasure to see how the industry continues to challenge itself and grow year on year. I very much look forward to seeing what 2020 has in store."

Danny Parmar, business development manager at Overbury and chairman of the BCO Midlands and East Anglia chapter, added:

“The BCO is proud to celebrate first-class talent and the National Awards programme is built to do just that.  The office market in our region is thriving, and it is a privilege to see exciting commercial work. Each year, the standard of our nominees rises and I anticipate 2020 will be no different.”

For more information about the awards and the winners this year visit the BCO website (www.bco.org.uk). Projects for the 2020 Awards must have been completed between January 2016 and 1st November 2019. Entries for the BCO's Awards programme close at 5pm on Friday 29th November.
