Paul Kennedy is an award-winning Scottish artist who works from his studio in Glasgow’s Merchant City. Born in Glasgow in 1981, Paul’s talent was recognised at the young age of twelve when he won the competition to design the Edinburgh Festival Fringe poster since then Paul has won various other awards.

Much of his work has been inspired by city life, depicting a narrative between the people and their surroundings.  His paintings are strongly connected to experiences in his own life but also in the lives of the strangers he encounters on a daily basis.

Lately Paul has partnered up with Glasgow housebuilder, Westpoint Homes to display his work within the exquisite new show apartment which has recently opened in Pollokshields. This is a first for Paul, and he is absolutely delighted his artwork is in an impeccable environment with interior design of the highest standard, thus bringing a sense of excellence to his work. The raw pieces of art take a slight edge off the perfection of the show apartment, bringing it to life.

Styled and designed by Glasgow based interior designers, Flounce, the stunning show apartment features highlight colours of sophisticated pink and soft brass combined with underlying grey and neutral tones creating a rich and contemporary style. The artwork within the show apartment was selected from Paul’s Venice collection, inspired by his time spent in Italy, the pieces of art chosen create a sense of escapism and reflection of the traveller, marrying in perfectly with the interior design. Amtico flooring sets the tone throughout the open plan lounge and kitchen creating a warm welcome leading from the spacious hallway. The rich and luxurious feel is carried throughout the apartment, a dramatic master bedroom designed with a combination of soft velvets, The White Company bed linen finished off with a deluxe aubergine throw. Pocket-doors lead to a generous dressing area and fitted wardrobes taking you through to a luxurious 4-piece en-suite featuring a mirage silver tile and quality fittings. Bedroom two features dual aspect windows which allow an abundance of natural light to flood in, with soft sheer curtains and elegant tree-lined wallpaper this bedroom is the perfect place for a guest to rest after their weary travels.

Paul said, ‘Working alongside Westpoint Homes has been a great experience to see how my work contributes to the beautiful interiors and vice versa. It’s wonderful to see such a good relationship between the work and the space around it and has made me see the impact of my paintings in a whole new light.’

This is a relationship both Westpoint Homes and Paul will continue to build going forward.
