OX Place, the housing company of Oxford City Council, has submitted plans for 31 affordable low carbon homes.

The firm aims to build at Bertie Place recreation ground, a former landfill site which has been earmarked for housing since 2013.

The application is for 22 council homes plus nine which will be sold for shared ownership.

The council homes comprise 10 three-bedroom houses, 10 one-bedroom flats and two two-bedroom flats. The shared ownership homes will all be two-bedroom houses.

A new play area and multi-use games area (MUGA) will be built and a nature trail created nearby with a bridge linking it to Bertie Place.

There will be five parking spaces with EV charging, including one car club and one Blue Badge space. The remaining three spaces will be for visitors.

If permission is granted work could start this year.

Cllr Alex Hollingsworth, cabinet member for planning and housing delivery, said: “OX Place is building homes for a sustainable future. Every single affordable home our housing company builds makes a life changing difference.”
