Key Features
Description
Purchased by the current owning family in 2002, The Traddock is a property steeped in history, originally thought to have been built in the 1740s by the influential local Ingilby family who retained ownership for around 200 years. Once sold in the 1930s the property became a small hotel and guest house accommodating summer visitors, school groups and geologists to the Yorkshire Dales. As guests’ expectations have changed, the building has been skilfully adapted to give an impressive country house feel and in 2019 an extensive refurbishment was undertaken including a new extension, adding two new bedrooms and much improved public and back of house facilities including a state of the art new commercial kitchen and upgraded services. The hotel offers an outstanding opportunity for a new owner to take the hotel to the next step and is for sale due to retirement.
Location
The hotel enjoys an enviable trading location being located in the attractive Yorkshire Dales village of Austwick, which is around five miles north of the affluent town of Settle with its excellent range of amenities. Perhaps most importantly for an hotel such as this, the property is in an excellent tourist trading location being situated within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and also being within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Lake District National Park. All three of these areas are highly popular with visitors, and the immediate local area itself offers an array of walks and activities including the renowned Ingleborough (one of the popular ‘Yorkshire Three Peaks’), the Settle to Carlisle railway including the wonderful Victorian architecture of the Ribblehead Viaduct and the picturesque Ingleton waterfalls trail as well as countless walks, trails and picturesque towns and villages. Access to the property is outstanding, being located just off the A65 which is the main tourist route connecting the Lake District National Park, Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding National Beauty, Yorkshire Dales National Park and the popular spa town of Harrogate; with the M6 and the A1(M). With the number of attractions in the area, and the proximity of the internationally renowned areas mentioned above so close, it underlines the area’s increasing popularity as a tourist destination.
