Set at the northern end of Borrowdale, nestled between the North Lakeland fells and Derwentwater – England’s widest and arguably most stunning lake – is Keswick.
As a beautiful Cumbrian market town, Keswick has grown, with the help of local industry and visitors, into a thriving Lake District tourism centre that has an active local community.
Keswick is the ideal location to stay and explore all the attractions of the Northern Lakes yet the other famous towns and villages are with in east access. Grasmere village is around 13 miles to the south, Ambleside 17 miles and Windermere 22 miles distant.
The area is highly accessible with junction 40 of the M6 located 18 miles to the east and Penrith railway station on the main West Coast line around 19 miles distant.
The Lake District National Park, in the last few years was designated a UNESCO world heritage site and has for decades been one of the UK’s premier tourist destinations. It covers over 850 square miles and boasts England’s only true mountain range and many lakes and tarns that give the area its name. The visitor number in recent years has exceeded 15 million per year.
