LOCATION
The village of Nether Stowey is located within the administrative area of Somerset Council (SC). It is situated on the edge of the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which is renowned for its abundance of wildlife and dramatic landscapes. Nether Stowey has a comprehensive range of facilities and amenities, including (but not limited to):- a primary school (graded good by Ofsted), a doctors surgery, a parish church (St Mary’s), a church hall, a vets, a Premier convenience store, a rock climbing centre, a number of public houses, restaurants and cafes. It is approximately 14.5-kilometres (9.0-miles) west of Bridgwater. Bridgwater has a range of ecclesiastical, educational, cultural, recreation/leisure and shopping facilities and amenities. The town has seen exceptional growth and investment in recent years and is home to a number of major employers, including Refresco Beverages, Langdon Group, Morrisons and Mulberry. Hinkley Point Nuclear Power Station is approximately 9.3-kilometres (5.8-miles) to the north on the West Somerset coast. Currently under construction is Hinkley Point C, which is costing between £41.6-billion and £47.9-billion and is intended to become operational between 2029 -2031. These projects are creating high demand for new homes. The site is located approximately 19.5-kilometres (12.1-miles) west of the Gravity Enterprise Zone, approximately half of which will be taken up by a £4-billion gigafactory being developed by Agratas for the production of electric vehicle batteries for Jaguar Land Rover. The facility is expected to be operational by 2026 and should create up to 4,000 jobs.
COMMUNIC ATIONS
Road - Nether Stowey is located just off the A39. The A39 provides access west to Williton, Minehead and Barnstaple and east to Cannington, Bridgwater and Street. Therefore, it provides easy access to Junction 23 of the M5 motorway, making it ideal for those commuting to work in Bristol or Exeter.
Rail - Bridgwater railway station is approximately 14.6-kilometres (9.1- miles) to the east. It provides mainline services to Taunton, Cardiff Central, Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington.
Air - Bristol Airport is approximately 52.5-kilometres (32.6-miles) to the north-east, via the M5 motorway. It offers scheduled and chartered flights to a range of national and international destinations.
