Key Features
Overview:
The Mill Forge, created from a selection of 18th Century former farm buildings, is an atmospheric, hotel and wedding venue close to the famed (over a little over 2 miles distant) Gretna Green – Scotland’s wedding “capital”. Whilst The Mill operates as an hotel, for leisure and/or corporate guests, it is as that special wedding venue that the bulk of the business emanates. The Mill Forge is a superb rural complex that can host the full wedding ceremony and post wedding celebrations but with the proximity to Gretna Green, couples can have the traditional “Blacksmith’s Anvil” ceremony there and their reception at The Mill.
Location:
A valuable feature of The Mill Forge is the ease of accessibility. The M74 is close by and junctions for both north and southbound traffic are within a few hundred meters of The Mill. Plus of course, the scenic aesthetic beauty of the surrounding countryside is a joy to explore – whether the rolling countryside of Dumfries and Galloway, the fun of the Solway Coast, the many Scottish Border towns and the Lake District National Park – are all accessible on The Mill’s doorstep.
Property:
With parts of the original property dating from the 18th and 19th Centuries (an Historic Scotland Category B Listed Building) entry and they of course provide the core character to the property and business. The Mill Forge is spread over an expansive area of courtyards, with adjoining gardens and paddock field. The main entrance, from the public road, leads into the main car park area (40+).
