Situation

The Trout Inn is situated in a beautiful part of Gloucestershire, adjacent to the Cotswold AONB. The pub sits on the main A417 that runs from Cirencester, through Fairford and Lechlade to Faringdon on a bridge over the Thames that is next to the first lock on the upper reaches – a real landmark. The catchment is excellent with all the towns mentioned as well as Swindon to the south all in easy reach, and The Trout is a destination itself, whether you are travelling by car or boat.

The Property

The Trout has a fascinating history, originally part of the Augustinian Lechlade Priory founded in the 13th century and becoming an inn during the late 1400’s. The name changed to The Trout in 1704. The main building is stone built with slate and stone slate roofs. Accommodation is arranged on ground and two upper floors. The building is Grade 2 listed.

Public Areas

There is a wonderful main bar with flagged floors, a beamed ceiling and an open fireplace, together with two equally lovely dining rooms in the main building, in all seating around 80. Just across a courtyard is the Creel Bar that seats about 30, which connects into two large seasonal marquees (Easter to October) which can accommodate another 120 or so.
