Surrey County Council Approves Community-based Funding

Surrey County Council has approved the final round of funding for the Large Community Projects Fund, organised by Your Fund Surrey.

The fund has been active for five years, with 74 projects receiving funding, totalling £26.8 million across all projects. The final round of funding will total £3.65m across eight projects, with applications now having closed.

Approved projects

The projects receiving funding include:

  • Hurst Green Community Centre, Tandridge: Awarded £1m to support redevelopment and creation of a fully accessible hub.
  • Coombe Common Pavilion, Waverley: Awarded £600,000 to support construction of a new pavilion, and improved recreation space.
  • The Community Life Trust, Runnymede: Awarded £499,000 to restore the Kings Head building.
  • Churt Pavilion, Waverly: Awarded £217,139 to support refurbishment and an extension.
  • Peer Productions, Woking: Awarded £499,000 to support the creation of a new community hub.
  • Woking Tigers, Woking: Awarded £135,000 towards a new 3G pitch in Sheerwater.
  • Effingham Village Recreation Trust, Guildford: Awarded £499,900 to create an accessible outdoor recreation space.

Arbuthnot Hall, Waverly, will also receive an additional £200,000 for transforming their existing hall into a community hub.

“This programme has supported dozens of fantastic initiatives that create real, lasting benefits for residents, from modern community hubs to improved sports and cultural spaces”.
