The fundraiser was a huge success and raised nearly twice the initial £200,000 target.  Every penny raised will support local homeless charities in across the UK

Monday 15 March – LandAid’s first ever virtual SleepOut has raised over £360,000, the funds of which will go to charity projects supporting young homeless people such as DHI’s East Street Mews development in the South West, St. Basils Live and Work Village 2 in the Midlands, WomenCentre in Yorkshire and Depaul’s Safestop project in the North West.

Thursday Night saw 608 property professionals braving the rain and cold overnight outside.  Participants were joined via livestream by sleep physiologist Steph Romiszewski and survival instructor John Hudson, who were able to prepare sleepers for a night in the cold.

Knight Frank, Fiera Real Estate, Prologis and TFT where the headline sponsors for the first ever virtual LandAid SleepOut, and LandAid would also like to thank all of the other sponsors across the property sector, without whom none of this would have been possible. Property companies such as TrustedLand, Howard De Walden and Henry Boot all came together to raise these valuable funds to support homeless young people across the UK.

LandAid would like to say a huge thank you to CLIF bar, GetMoreVits and Tenzing drinks for providing energy bars, fruity vitamin drinks and energy drinks for 500 professionals. These items made up survival packs which were sent to the first 500 participants to sign up, which included hats and gloves to help with the cold.

Paul Morrish, LandAid Chief Executive, says: “A big thank you to everyone who braved the horrible weather and slept out during the LandAid SleepOut. An incredible amount has been raised by professionals from across the property industry. Every penny raised will go towards LandAid’s mission to end youth homelessness.

This is my third year sleeping out. It’s been almost too cold at times and I did not sleep well. However, these nights sleeping outside do not replicate the true reality of rough sleeping that faces thousands of young people all over the country. With the efforts of hundreds across the property industry, we have raised enough funds to be able to make a real difference to those who are young and homeless, by providing safe and secure accommodation.”

Alistair Elliott, Senior Partner and Group Chairman, Knight Frank, said: “Knight Frank is delighted to have had the opportunity to sponsor the LandAid SleepOut, which we believe to be the stand-out initiative to raise awareness for youth homelessness in the UK.  Knight Frank are proud to have brought the property industry together for such an urgent cause.”
