Coles Miller Solicitors are urging families to join the Race for Life in Bournemouth and Poole – this year men can run too. The events are now open to all.

It’s the third year running that Coles Miller is officially supporting Cancer Research UK’s local Race for Life and Pretty Muddy events.

Race for Life started in 1994. Previously it was open only to women but now Coles Miller Partners Neil Andrews and Richard Perrins will be among the first men to run in the event.

In total 16 Coles Miller staff will be running, with 10 more volunteering as race marshals. Since 2017 Coles Miller’s staff and supporters have raised at least £1,000 every year. This year they aim to beat that.

Neil Andrews said: “As a firm we are very keen to support the battle against cancer.”

He added: “My family – like virtually every other family – has been touched by cancer in various forms over the years.”

This year’s Race for Life and Pretty Muddy events in Bournemouth and Poole will be held on:

  • Race for Life 5k & 10k on Sunday June 9th at 11am on The Seafront, Bournemouth
  • Pretty Muddy Kids & Pretty Muddy on Saturday June 15th at 9.30am on Baiter Park, Poole
  • Race for Life 5k & 10k on Sunday June 16th at 11am, Baiter Park, Poole.

Participants can choose to walk, jog or run around the course.

Race for Life Event Manager Georgina Horne said: “Our Race for Life and Pretty Muddy events are fun, colourful, emotional and uplifting.

“You don’t need to be sporty to take part. You don’t have to train, and you certainly don’t need to compete against anyone else.”

One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetime but the good news is that more people are surviving the disease now than ever before.

Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970s. Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress.

Georgina said: “To make a significant difference in the fight against cancer, we need to harness as much energy and commitment as possible – and that’s why we need everyone in the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch area to join in.

“We’re urging mums, dads, nans, grandpas, brothers, sisters, friends and workmates to show their support by joining the Race for Life.

“It’s a perfect example of everyday people doing an extraordinary thing – uniting in a common cause to beat cancer.”
