Holly House Chiswick Sets Out to Defy its Objectors

New proposals from Starbones Ltd and SimpsonHaugh architects for a 90 metres high, 23 storey mixed-use tower on Chiswick Roundabout will transform the brownfield site.

Over the last 25 years, many exciting proposals have fallen by the wayside because of objections from influential organisations over the height and impact on the historic area, including Kew Gardens and Strand on the Green.

Holly House will provide circa 300 homes and 50 office units in an incubator across 40,000 sq metres. The proposed height of 90 metres is 18 metres taller than the nearest tower part of the L&Q Citroen site.

The building will include over three thousand sq metres of green space with 960 sq metres of living walls.

No date has been set for the planning committee to review the proposals, and the consultation can be seen here.

Most recently, in July 2019, the Secretary of State disagreed with the Planning Inspectorate’s recommendation to grant permission for a building of 31 and 24 storeys known as the Chiswick Curve (110 metres).

The area around the new Brentford Community Stadium consists primarily of tower blocks. With a lower height, will the proposal find favour among planning authorities despite the many weighty objections?
