In the Federation of Small Businesses’ First Voice magazine Matthew Holliday, NSI’s Director of Approval Schemes, provides his thoughts on the security risks faced by those who own and manage small businesses which can include thefts and burglaries, through to vandalism, arson and criminal damage.

There are a range of measures that can be taken including intrusion alarms, visual surveillance systems and access control systems, the first step being to instigate a risk assessment to be based on the operational needs and specific security risks.  Guiding factors should be taken into account such as the nature, size and geographic location of a business.
