In December 2021, the Hounslow Council Planning Committee reviewed a planning development proposal from Brentford FC for a premiership standard training ground.

Brentford FC had received planning permission to redevelop the training ground in August 2020, following a unanimous planning committee approval in October 2019. This included the retention of the existing pavilion, a new one and two storey training building.

These proposals were based upon the requirements of a Championship Club and did not include a Football Academy. The current scheme is no longer deemed adequate to support a Premier League football club and academy.

Having achieved promotion to the Premier League, the existing planning consent is no longer considered fit for purpose. Therefore, Brentford aims to deliver a training ground that is fit for a Premier League Club.

The proposals will:

  • Create a first-class facility to provide the best training and attract the best players and staff.
  • Allow the club to develop talented young players through a new academy.
  • Provide space for regular community use through our links with local schools, sports clubs and other groups.
  • Deliver the first zero carbon Premier League training ground – ensuring they are sustainable and environmentally friendly in the long term.

Brentford plans to demolish the outdated pavilion and temporary buildings and replace it with a new high-quality performance centre for the 1st Team, B Team and Women’s Team, which will help create an environment that promotes success and inspires the players and staff.

The plans incorporate a Football Academy in line with UEFA requirements to enable the club to train the next generation of young footballers.

This will include a covered pitch, a new full size external 4G pitch and floodlights for two outdoor pitches for all-year-round training and community use. Additionally, the plans provide more parking spaces to ensure that there is enough space for players, staff and visitors to Jersey Road without disrupting the neighbours.

Brentford FC aims for planning submission in spring 2022 with the planning committee in summer 2022. If approved, then they would seek to start on site in spring 2023 with completion autumn 2024
