The London Borough of Hounslow has submitted and approved plans to demolish an entire estate in Brentford High Street to make way for 209 new homes.

Charlton House, Albany House and Osier Court will be knocked down to accommodate five apartment blocks ranging between one and eight storeys high.

After a successful consultation by KC+A, the residents will be happy to see the back of the dilapidated buildings.

The application proposes the site’s redevelopment with a residential-led mixed-use proposal, comprising 209 homes (100 per cent affordable), flexible non-residential uses and new public spaces. The proposal also includes blue badge parking, cycle parking, landscaping, and the new public realm areas.

All of the homes would be affordable, equating to 202 Social Rent and seven Intermediate for the Borough.

The proposal is highly sustainable, achieving a minimum 62 per cent reduction in emissions over Building Regulations Part L compliant baseline. The commercial elements will achieve an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating.

The proposal would comprehensively redevelop the Site, making the best use of the land. The scheme would be consistent with the objectives of the Development Plan to deliver regeneration and housing, especially affordable housing, and to optimise use of such sites focusing on growth at sustainable locations with good transport accessibility.

The proposal is subject to a final decision by the Mayor of London.
