BDW Cambridgeshire has been granted planning permission by the planning committee of East Cambridgeshire District Council for a residential development project.

The approval was secured during the committee’s November 15 meeting, marking a significant milestone for the community.  The approved hybrid scheme combines both full and outline elements, paving the way for the construction of up to 397 dwellings on the strategically located land off of Woodfen Road, Littleport.

The development is set to contribute substantially to the region, offering a diverse range of housing options to cater to the needs of the local population. This groundbreaking project will encompass 298 high-quality new homes, featuring a variety of sizes to accommodate different family structures and preferences.

In addition to this, the development includes 79 affordable homes, addressing the crucial need for accessible housing options in the area. Furthermore, 20 build plots have been allocated, allowing residents to personalise their homes to suit their individual tastes and requirements.

Environmental sustainability takes centre stage in this development, with a commitment to a 10% biodiversity net gain. The project also emphasises the creation of public open spaces, creating a sense of community and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.  Key infrastructure improvements are integral to the plan, including the establishment of a new roundabout on the A10.

Improved foot and cycle connections to the local community school will contribute to the overall connectivity of the area.
