A delightful parcel of native ancient woodland in the picturesque Mendip Hills has been snapped up ahead of a planned livestream auction at more than double the asking price.

The attractive woodland at Rye Ditch Wood, Westbury Sub Mendip, near Wells, has huge environmental appeal and is classified as ancient woodland by Natural England. It is home to a range of native species including Oak, Ash and Hazel along with some Horse Chestnuts.

It extends to around 3.87 acres (1.57Ha) and is situated within the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The auctioneers were quoting a guide price of £34,000.

Agricultural surveyor Jamie Batt MRICS FAAV said: “There was a phenomenal amount of interest in this lot, with prospective purchasers showing a huge demand for small parcels of woodland and/or pasture land.”

Property and land specialists Greenslade Taylor Hunt host a number of livestream auctions throughout the year. The next one takes place on Wednesday, September 30, from 3pm. If you have woodland or a parcel of land you are looking to sell please contact agricultural surveyor Jamie Batt MRICS FAAV on 01935 415300.
